The story of the origin of the daiquiri is as fascinating as the drink itself!
Picture this. It’s 1941 in the United States and war time rationing is in full swing. Whisky and vodka- the drinks of the day – were almost impossible to come by.
American politics would play an unexpected role in the development of our favourite cocktail! Franklin Roosevelt implemented the Good Neighbor Policy, opening the borders to Latin America and the Caribbean. Rum was the drink of choice in these countries, and so it became much easier to find in the USA as the borders were opened and the immigrants brought their drinks with them.
It was exceptionally strong, and the locals devised a way to incorporate it into their drinking culture. And thus was the daiquiri born.
True daiquiris are not meant to be blended, and Bar Hemingway’s remains faithful to the classic recipe.
Hemingway Daiquiri: Ernest Hemingway designed his very own variation of the Daiquiri and it would be a sin for us not to honour it on our menu. Bacardi rum, fresh lime and our in-house organic sugar syrup with freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice.
